Subject: [ferrethealth] commercial vs home made foods

Yes because we are omnivores and ferrets are obligate carnivores there is a wider gulf between their needs and ours, than between us and canines. Still my point is - don't discount food just because it's made at home. Maybe I should have added read and learn about their balanced nutritional needs so one can be more confident that they are indeed providing complete nutrition---

Here's one interesting read.... canine... and my thoughts.. if there is such a varied need of nutrition between species, then doesn't it follow that there would be a difference between wild animals and their domesticated spin-offs (weasels and ferrets for instance).. well not necessarily, but the possibility is there.

I did find this interesting site... http://home.att.net/~cusickbook/2.pdf

His findings show different needs between breeds.. how cool... now I'll look for one for ferrets.

Oh and my point is STILL.. just because it's store bought does not mean it's better.
