That is correct. These are small needles that the ferret will probably
not even notice; I am more concerned about keeping the earplug in
position! We have used this same type needle electrode on dog, horse,
snake, chicken and maybe a sheep (I forget).

Also correct. The signal is delivered to the ear, causing the auditory
nerve to fire. The firing of the nerve as it travels from synapse to
synapse is what is actually recorded. No shock at all. Infants sleep
through these things all the time.

Thank you, Sukie. Things like this become so routine that those of us
doing it sometimes forget that not everyone understands the procedures.
