Amen to that. Ferrets tend to be a lot more stoic than dogs or cats
or a lot of other animals, and I've had very few that even cry after a
major surgery (and I've had dogs screaming and howling all night who
have had a 2mm subcutaneous mass removed under local anesthesia...).
So we try really hard to get them proper pain meds even if they don't
"seem" painful. It's an instinct for them to hide illness, like how
most don't want you to see them throw up. Things like adrenalectomies
are major surgeries, and even a tooth pulling or a dental cleaning on
"bad" teeth or gums can be pretty painful.

Pain inhibits healing, plain and simple.
