Tony, I'm no vet either. In my 30 years of keeping ferrets I've had some
who had rattail and later developed adrenal disease and I've had them
that had repeated bouts of rattail and never developed adrenal disease.
One thing I did learn. If they have the rattail with the blackheads, it
is caused by some kind of organism, a mite I believe. Dose them with
Revolution every two weeks for about three doses and you can just scrub
the blackheads off with a hand brush and shampoo, except the ones that
have the skin grown over them. The hair will start to grow back in. I
have done this.
