Hi Carol,
I just had a "dime" sized growth removed from one of my little female about 3 wks ago and I didn't fast her at all. She came thru with flying colors and has been giving me kisses ever since. She does have an enlarged spleen but to my knowledge no other health probs. The vet gave her gas and she had 5 stitches. Hope that helps
