Well, the first thing I did was to check

which was reassuring in this case.


One thing I think that you need to consider (besides infection,
irritation from things like a furball or ingested foreign body, etc.) is
that your ferret may have STASHED pieces of the food that causes the
intolerance so besides residual inflammation there may be smaller
new exposures on and off. That is the problem we had with Hilbert
who gets severe skin allergies when he has certain things, and it can
be very hard to find all of the stashes.
