There is a caution on Timmy's Tonic unless the formulation has been changed. It had
contained licorice (not the artificial licorice). Real licorice is incredibly thoroughly
documented for causing heart arrhythmia and high blood pressure so among other things
it can lead to throwing clots (which people often confuse with strokes). Licorice (again not
the artificial kind) can also cause an adrenal syndrome; that is a problem which is well
documented in humans. There are other cautions on that compound as well but those are
two big ones. If I recall right there might have been some lesser cautions with some other
ingredients in the compound.
Now, I heard from someone else that the formulation was later changed to have anise
instead of licorice, but check on that score.
Prednisolone all by itself can often give a ferret from between 3 months to even over a
year with lymphoma, depending on multiple factors such as the level of illness, which
organs are involved, etc. We have had one get 14 months on Prednisolone, another over a
year for an amount of time I can't off-hand recall, one other about a year, and usually
have managed to get 6 to 9 months for the ferrets we have had with lymphoma over a
space of 26 years with ferrets.
