I'm glad that Dante is doing well, but be careful when you say 'cured'. Amoxicillin and pepcid (along with carafate) is generally associated with helping to heal ulcers. If in fact ulcers are the problem that Dante has, then it will take at least 6 weeks, and probably longer, to actually heal them all the way. When you are done with the amoxicillin, which should be given for at least 2 weeks if it is in fact ulcers, then talk to your vet about giving Dante carafate or sucralfate about 20 minutes before meals.
The pepcid may also have to be continued for a fair amount of time. Pepcid AC tablets diluted with water may be a safer alternative than liquid pepto bismol. When I was giving the Pepcid AC I found that the equivalent of 1/8 of a 10 mg tablet worked very well. I would dissolve a 10 mg tablet in 4.0 ml of distilled water and administer 0.5 ml daily, divided into two 0.25 ml doses.
