Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Heat Stress And Heat Stroke!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Since Josie travels with me,throughout my Florida travels in truck
or on motorbike, heat control is a prime concern!

I tried the Blue ice paks but my goofy ferret decided she must be a
throw back to those rare blue footed and blue nosed ferrets! Thank
goodness the rubbermaid brand is non toxic! But does make an
interesting deposit color!

So I've switched over to frozen water bottles.

I also have a thermometer in the truck cab to monitor temp as well
as an auxilliary fan to keep the air circulating even more than
just the A/c does.

Its one of those foam blade fans and made for an interesting
learning experience for her when first installed!

I figure as long as she chooses to sleep curled up and under a
towel, she must be cool enough.

Her motorcycle carrier has 2 sides that are wide opening screening
and the front is plexiglass to keep the wind from hitting her
directly. a frozen water bottle and a piece of fleece for her to
snuggle in and she looks quite comfy!

regards, JosiesMom
