We give our ferrets a daily dose of either Ferretone or salmon oil. We usually alternate days, and give them about 0.5 ml each day. Their skin and coats are beautiful and soft, they don't shed, and they rarely scratch. You can mix with food, but ours love it as a treat straight out of a syringe, and come running when they hear the cabinet open. You must know how to properly syringe feed if you are going to give it to them straight.

[Moderator's Note: inhaled oils can be especially difficult on lungs because they coat the cells; I've read of human infant lung disease from aspirated oils, and in adult humans there is an occupational manufacturing disease called "Popcorn Lung" . Rather than a syringe which carries some inhalation risk so is best used for carefully giving meds, why not just use a spoon? Ours happy take fish oil, ferret oil based supplements, olive oil from a spoon.]
