I have had many ferrets, and they LOVE the rice box. There has never
been a problem with ingesting it or anything else. One of the other
benefits of the rice box is that it provides a great dry bath, keeps
them clean and sweet smelling, absorbs the excess oils in their coats.
Of course, it does need changing ... about every 6 months works for me
