YUP! 20 pounds of long grain wild rice NOT minute rice! No Josie
doesn't ingest it, nor does it lodge in her ears when she goes
snorkeling with her whole head and shoulders submerged and just her
little butt paddling behind!
I get her to chase my wiggling fingers under the rice and she delights
in capturing me!
She smells absolutely wonderful after a rollin her rice box!
I've toyed with the idea of a couple other dig boxes with various
products in them to enhance her tactile stimulation (since she is
deaf) like filling one with pinto beans, and another with macaroni
noodles?
I also have, in my sewing room, a drawer full of snipped thread tails;
Josie climbs into this drawer nad has a blast rolling in these threads
and rolling them into a ball! I fluff them back up and pat them flat
and she gets all in a twist to "fix" them her way again!
NO, she doesn't eat these threads.
Something she has started doing lately during our playtimes is
literally leaping up straight at me - she'll sometimes launch herself
over two feet into the air! Front paws outstretched, mouth grinning.
Sometimes I manage to catch her mid air and give her a "squnk" (a
squeeze, a hug and a smooch) and then let her go again and she'll come
flying back at me!
I keep the sofa pulled away from the wall, so this becomes a grand
playground for her too. Often it is just the infield for a race track
in the livingroom.
I have a pile of blankets on it and these make a great soft landing
zone for "flying ferrets".
Crouching low behind the sofa back so just my eyes are visible sends
her into a frenzy of "I'll getcha"! She gets all wound up and doesn't
know which gear to use and will often scrabble sideways, then
backwards off the lip of the sofa! Only to come leaping back on top
and scrambling up the back to "tag" my nose!
Come to think of it, Josie really isn't a single ferret at all - she
DOES have another ferret to play with - just that that ferret is 5 1/2
feet tall, has no hair or a tail and very dull teeth - ME! I AM her
other ferret friend!
Cheers!JosiesMom
