Subject: [ferrethealth] Enriching the Life of a Single Ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

There have been many suggestions posted for enriching the life of a
single ferret. One suggestion seems controversial to me:

"Another enrichment not mentioned here is to fill a basin full of
water and put ice cubes and or small toys like ping pong balls in
it. some ferrets will fish the toys out, some will snorkel some
will dig, and yet others will just drink the water. even better,
fill the basin with snow when avaiable!"

Ferret body temp is 100-104 and I was have always read that they need warm water for bathing. Ferrets for Dummies states the temp should be the same as for a human child. Am I correct here and do most of you keep your ferrets warm.

As a parent of 15 ferrets I have always maintained that the best way to enrich the life of a single ferret is to adopt a shelter ferret as a playmate. Or two, three........ your single ferret will have a playmate/sleepmate and the shelter ferret will love you for the home you provided.
