Subject: RE: [ferrethealth] Ferret Vaccine Reactions/IBD
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Last week I took my three ferrets to the vet, one needed her lupron shot, a
second was newly aquired and I was taking him for a check up and decided i
might as well give them their shots. It was the last appointmment of the
day for the vet, 7:30 pm., and he said that within the past couple of weeks
his office has had three ferrets that had a reaction to their vaccinations,
one also had been pre treated with benadryl. The vet said that this was
highly unusal and suggested that I do not vaccinate them that night, but
make an appointment early in the day when I have time to hang around in the
event that their is a reaction I can have them treated right away. Although
he did admit that one of the ferrets that had the reaction did so six hours
after the shot.

I am very concerned about this, and the only reason that I have to vaccinate
them for rabies is because Ihave to board them in july when I will be going
away for my brothers wedding.

I am unsure what to do.
