I'd have him checked for gastric ulcers.
Black deposits often mean internal bleeding from somewhere nless the
ferret just ate a raw liver. IF your ferret is only eating dry
kibble the liver explanation won't be your answer.
The teeth grinding can be a pain response from the ulcers.
Others here may have more ideas.
I ama huge proponent of natural feeding that will often avoid these
gastric upsets, but at 5 yrs old and with a ferret that isn't
amenable to eating "wet" foods - natural foods may be out of the
question.
Poor little guy. Hope he gets releif!
