Subject: [ferrethealth] Hello and Insulinoma Question
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hello,
I am Mom to two ferrets, and Aunt to one. My two are four, and my
boy was recently diagnosed with insulinoma, in the early stages. He's
been started on 25ml of prednizone twice daily, and seems to be
responding very well. He's gotten back a lot of energy, is able to run
and jump again, and has improved stamina. He's put on some weight, and
just looks overall healthier and happier.

I have checked his diet, there are no sugars in it. We feed The Ferret
Store Superior Choice Natural. I purchased some kitty hairball paste
that is sugar/ glucose/ molassas free, and some chicken flavored soft
treats that are also free from sugars.

Is there anything else I can do to make him have a better chance? I
will take the surgery route when its needed, but for now the vet wants
to go the maintainence route. Are cheweasels or foamy fries okay for
him? They're sugar free, but I'm trying to avoid molassas and natural
sugars, too. Basically, what can I do to keep my boy around
comfortably as long as possible?
