I did a lot of this when I was traveling back and
forth to my parents when my Dad was dying from cancer,
so my tips: carry a sheet or other lightweight
material you completely cover carrier for complete
shade. Also, I recommend throwing a couple of those
chemical "instant ice" packs they sell in drugstores
in your car if you carry ferrets in the summer. The
ones I use are quite tough (ferret proof) and can be
instantly activated in an emergency if you've
forgotten the frozen waterbottles. One or two of those
and a plain bottle of water under the seat will handle
most AC/heat emergencies. I agree the frozen bottles
of water are better, but these you don't have to
remember- just leave in the car. Next to the fleece
blanket for the winter!
