Subject: [ferrethealth] Rice bag burns?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi everyone. Has anyone had or heard of second-degree burns, through a
lush coat mind you? My Romeo-eo was placed on rice-bag tubesocks
during adrenal surgery, and the vet was hesitant to admit that this is
what happened. I had to say that I'd not heard/known of, or believed
it possible that this severe an injury could occur. Similar
experiences, and a warning to all...TAKE GREAT CARE. See photos.

[Moderator's Note:
no photo location is given and no new photos were found on a
check of the FHL album which is specifically of ferret health photos
only. Please, direct the FHL membership to your photos.

Bruising and the rising of lost blood are common after surgery for
ferrets. This could look like burns; just something to check if not
already done.

Burns from any source are on rare occasion encountered in
ferrets so I think some info on that might be in the archives at
