Subject: [ferrethealth] Questions on BG level and testing...
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

1) Some stuff I have been wondering about. Several vets over the
years have drawn blood and sent it off to the labs. The results come
back with the BG level in the 40's or the 60's. I have ask the vets
about he values being so low and they say, no, those values are fine.
Thes vets or 30 to 120 min away so these would be considered fasting
levels. I have seen two references that say 40 is deffinite and 60 is
suspect. Since one of the kids has always exhibited mild spacey
behavior I would have have thought that would be enough to determine
the DX. Other references seem to say anything under 120 is a problem.

Can someone explain?

2) Do vets normally have the instant BG test equipment? I am thinking
along the lines of a more $$ version of a home tester.

3) I there a best home tester for use w/ ferrets? Given that my vets
do not seem to have instant testers, how can I get a cal value (offset
to adjust the reading by).

thanks.
