Subject: [ferrethealth] adreanl gland medication
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hello,
I live in the canary islands, ferrets are not taken to the vets over
here so my vet, although wonderful, has no experience with ferrets.

She has reaserched as much as she can and a blood test was done on
my ferret 4 days ago and, along with the symptoms, adreanl dieseas
has been diagnoised.

She has told me that she has medication and the name is TRILOSTANO
she said she tried to get MITOTANE but it is not available. I have
done a web search to see if i can find out about TRILOSTANO and
nothing comes up. I know that the names of medication are probably
different in Spain but having read a lot about adreanal diesease the
only medication i can find out about is Lupron depot treatment or
melatonin, I have read that if a vet is unaware of treatments for
ferrets they may think that treatment for dogs or cats are okay. I
am worried that this treatment is not suitable.

Is there anyone who has heard of TRILOSTANO and if yes is it
suitable?

Thank you
Linda
