With any surgery there are risks. It's just a chance you have to
take. Whatever decision you make, you have to be able to deal with
potential consequences.

Where I live, spleen removal is a relatively safe procedure. I
haven't heard of any ferrets dying from it. Often times its done the
same time as adrenal surgery. If you go to a vet who has a lot of
experience dealing with ferrets, then he obviously would know what
he's doing. Spleens can rupture if they get too enlarged, its pretty
rare, but it does happen.

I adopted a ferret who had his spleen removed previously and he did
just fine without it. I've seen other ferrets that had spleens
removed as well and they have been just fine.

If the spleen starts to bother the ferret, then I think its time to
remove it. Just my thoughts.
