Subject: [ferrethealth] pumpkin for ferrets on pred for GI problem
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My vet has instructed me to begin my 1 yr old ferret Izzy on pred for GI problems (she has
chronic bird seed looking stool. It is formed, but seedy). Prior to the pred, I tried offering her
pumpkin puree mixed with turkey baby food, and her stool looked normal. But then, as soon
as she had any kind of kibble (hills feline z/d supplemented with wysong archetypal 1), the
stool went seedy again. I am wondering if continued offering of turkey baby food and
pumpkin prior to offering the pred (buffer her tummy!) would be bad, or if I should cut out
the pumpkin. She does seem to like it though. Also, how long does it take usually to begin
seeing resutls with the pred.

Thanks, Amanda and Izzy
