I don't want to start a diet /food debate. So, lets just say there will be lots of suggestions and no one right answer, as frustrating as that is. You can search the archives here for past discussions on diet.
There are even debates on the ingredients, shoot there are debates on just about every aspect of diet/pet food ingredients, etc.

In my opinion, I like Totally Ferret, Innova EVO for ferret for main two, and sometimes I mix in Innova EVO cat, and zupreem or 8 in 1 ultimate. I also use a mix of foods , that works best in my home.

You can literally drive yourself crazy going over all the internet info on pet food ingredients, etc. I have done that , been there.
I also make sure treats are meat based, and make my own mix of chicken, ground turkey, chicken liver, egg blend for nightly treats.

Subject: [ferrethealth] food question

What exactly are the three top foods to feed ferrets for the best
health? I've looked at charts and read reviews but I'm confused. Some
of the ones listed as the top food have either chicken by products or
chicked meal as the first ingredient. Some that are cheaper actually
have what looks like better ingredients and chicken as the first
ingredient. I want to feed mine the very best for their health
regardless of whether it's a brand name, ferret or cat food or
whatever. Just the best nutrition. Can someone help me out?
