Subject: [ferrethealth] Bleeding from potty spot on males
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

This can typically caused by a couple things -
infection - treatment would be vet prescribing antibiotics and
figuring out why the infection, most commonly adrenal disease or
stones

getting caught on something - sometimes boys will climb on cages and
get caught. If they struggle enough they will get lose but can cause
damage to the area. Is there swelling or bruising that you can see?

Do you use newspaper for them to potty on? If so make sure what you
are looking at isn't red ink bleeding through the newspaper making
you think it is blood.

Is this just a spot of urine tinged blood? Is he urinating
normally? Is he acting normal? Eating and drinking well?

It would be a good idea to take him to a vet. This could be a minor
problem that is easily solved but if it continues it might turn into
a major problem.
