Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Anemia Question
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

HI Cathy,

I would guess that the ferret may indeed have hemolytic anemia. If it s a
right adrenal compromise ( adrenal disease) the ferret may in fact have a
perfect coat but have higher body temps and other issues that could spur
the suppression of bone marrow thus giving the anemia. It can be regulated
with pred dosing BUT I really think you need a vet to determine if this is
the case.l

Long term stress can cause bleeding ulcers which will make the ferret
anemic as well.
Short of having a thorough work up on her at the vets -- I guess you can
minimize the symptoms by giving pet tinic, good food, and observing her
closely -- but ultimately, you will want to determine the cause of the
condition before it makes recouping fror a surgery etc an obstacle.

Sending good wishes,
