Lymphoma cases are all so individual. We've gotten up to 14 good months with
Prednisolone alone, but we also have gotten as little as 6 good months. In terms of a
ferret life span, though, 6 months is about like 6 years for a human so that is a great gift, I
figure. So much depends on which organs are involved, how much it has spread, etc.
I've never tried Essiac but have read good things about it and a few criticisms, but those
were anecdotal though worth taking into consideration. FlorEssence I know even less
about. When we next run into lymphoma I think I'd be willing to try such things I also
think I would learn more first before deciding for sure.
Pau d' Arco has a lot of warnings attached, though. You will find past vet posts in the
Archives about that causing problems in ferrets, including by vets who had at first thought
it could be useful, so that one is better avoided.
There are studies in humans which indicate that hormonal malignancies can be slowed by
providing a good deal of darkness, or if some light is provided by having it be amber
which does not reduce natural melatonin production in the body. (Blue and green light are
the worst ones for decreasing melatonin amounts).
Different malignancies also respond different to nutrient levels. For example, some are
better able to uptake nutrients than healthy tissue so those malignancies appear in studies
to thrive better if people take supplements. (Latest study was one of men with prostate
malignancies in which the rate of death from the malignancy was up to doubled if the
people took supplements.) I do NOT know of any corresponding veterinary studies let
alone ferret specific ones, so take into account that the results may not generalize for such
things as I am mentioning.
In humans also, there is at least one type of breast malignancy which can take up large
amounts of Vitamin C and be shielded from radiation therapy by doing so, so it can even
negate the treatment but certainly reduces the effectiveness of the treatment.
I think that links to some of these can be found in the FHL and FML Archives because I
think that I mentioned the studies in one or both:

Both are easy to use!
