Hi all.
You were all right about the Carafate. Thank god! Bear is much improved today, after having been on Carafate the last 24 hours. Last night was rough for other reasons (more in a sec), but today he is much improved and stronger. He's still not *eager* to eat, but he now is eating while being held for part of the time, and not having to be completely syringe fed. Progress.

Last night, we thought we were going to lose him. He was SO weak, and I guess the Carafate hadn't had much time to work AND he wasn't doing well after the new lower dosage of heart meds. He was dehydrated, so we gingerly gave him a small amount of sub-cu fluids. I don't think we will chance that again. The 10ccs of sub-cu fluids were very difficult for him, especially given his new lower dose of heart meds. We've decided today that Lasix is the enemy, but Enalapril and Digoxin are not. Bear has been doing MUCH better today after going back up to his previous dose of Enalapril and Digoxin but staying off the Lasix.

With our vets' guidance, we're spacing apart the (bubble-gum flavored) Carafate, omeprazole, and heart meds, and keeping him as hydrated as possible with watery food (and soon arriving Carnivore Plus.) He's better hydrated today, too.

He's not smacking his gums today for the first time in weeks. God/s bless Carafate!
