I am very sorry for your loss.

Sadly, I am afraid that this says all too clearly why ferrets can not be left on their own for
extended times. What you describe has several possible explanations but the most likely
is that her blood sugar dropped too low. That can be from not eating or can be from
insulinoma or some other types of pancreatic growths.

Less common are things like diabetes, ADV, toxoplasmosis, meningitis, etc. so blood
testing is essential.

There are meds for insulinoma, with Prednisolone, a very inexpensive and widely available
prescription being the first choice, but if the seizures had been going on too long before
being spotted then treatment would have had little effect if unchecked seizures for an
extended time had caused brain damage to take place.

This has been a very hard way for you and your brother to learn about this consideration.

Hopefully, reading of her illness and death will help save others from anything similar.
