Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Female ferret not urinating...
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Our little girl Savannah spent all day the the vet today for
observation. Her bladder was drained on Monday afternoon and she did
not urinate Tuesday at all nor today at the vet clinic. So they
drained the bladder again this afternoon.

Yes our vet did check Savannah urine's PH and said it was normal it
was 6.8 Monday and 7.2 today.

Our vet gave Savannah a gas sedative and tried to empty her bladder
by squeezing from the outside. She made several attempts but was
unsuccessfull. She says there has to be something causing a bloclage
of some sort. She is at a loss as to what it is since they can find
nothing on x-ray or ultra sound.
The blood in the urine now contains small traces of white blood
cells.

Our vet gave us several options which included:
-Being refered to the University of Florida for treatment.
-Drug therapy with two drugs one to dialate the urethra and the other
to cause the bladder to contract. (she felt this would not be
successfull but was willing to give it a try if Savannah was game.)
-Exploritory Sugury
-Euthanasia

Savannah is schedual for exploritory Sugury tomarrow morning and the
vet said she would check anything and everything she could. We are
hoping to finding Somthing. If she finds nothing we will probably let
Savannah go as this problem seems to be worsening. :(
