Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Lupron self-injection information
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

We have gone to subcutaneous injections and it has worked just fine for our shelter, although it takes a little longer to get into the system. We changed after a vet tech (we thought was a vet filling in for our usual vet) gave our little Molly an intramuscular Lupron injection in the hind quarter and Molly lost the use of her back legs immediately thereafter. I understand there is a very big danger of hitting a major nerve and I guess she hit it.
Just a suggestion, but I am NOT A VET, so you may want other advice.

My vet has no clue how to do the lupron injections. I can do it
myself, as I've done many injections as a vet tech, but I have no clue
either! So the lupron is just sitting here.

Also, Professional Arts didn't say whether it had to be frozen, or
refridgerated, or not at all. So....it's sat here for a couple of
days. Have I ruined it? I truly forgot about it. But the shipment,
they shipped it without any freezer packs or cold packs. So I just
assumed it was fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

xxxxxxx
