Subject: [ferrethealth] Digoxin possibly for Molly?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Andrea, I am so glad that Bear is doing so much better.
I too am dealing with Molly's heart problem and I didn't realize that Digoxin could be used in conjunction with Enalapril. I will be calling my vet tomorrow and ask if we should be adding this to my Molly's meds but I wanted to ask here first and get some opinion's.
Molly is 7 years old, 2.8 lbs. and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. We did X-rays first and we were suspecting Lymphoma but the Ultrasound showed heart problems, not lymphoma.
She was put on .25ml Enalapril suspension daily and .25ml Furosemide twice daily (8MG/ML) or as needed.
Its been about three weeks now and she is not showing any improvement at all. She only comes out of her bed to use the litter box or when I feed her, otherwise she stays in her bed. She can't walk four feet without flat- ferreting and she stretches her neck out as flat as she can. She's obviously uncomfortable She totally stopped playing. I try to play with her like before, let her snorkel through the grass and she seems to want to do it but gets exhausted right away. I feel so bad for her especially since she went blind a few month ago and also lost her cage mates on top of that. She is eating good so far but only moist food. So, I cream her Totally Ferret and mix chicken baby food in it. She eats that four times a day.
So, is Digoxin something that could possibly help her? Anything else I can help her with? Any suggestions? I wanted to ask here before I call the vet tomorrow. I was wanting to check with him anyway if maybe her Enalapril needs to be increased.
I put a link to her Ultrasound below if that would be of any help.

you may have to load it on to your computer to enlarge it more and see it clearer. Sorry, I don't know how else to do this.
Thank you all,
Helga
