Subject: [ferrethealth] Short and Long Term Effects of Abuse and Neglect
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Dear veterinarians and experienced FHL members,
I'd appreciate having your expert opinions as to what health and
behavioral issues can be anticipated, short and long term, from
ferrets living ouside, unprotected from the elements. The
environment being one of extremes for each season.
Further complicating the situation would be; giardia contaminated, as
well as frozen, water source, and mink lab diet also frozen at
times. What medical conditions can arise from a life of walking on
galvanized and rusted grid cage floors? Again regarding the living
space, how does a 16" x 24" cage with multiples of 4 - 6 ferrets
occupying it, compromise the health of those ferrets?
Could you possibly project behavioral problems stemming from the
environmental effects of these ferrets?
I thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to this
hypothetical set of questions.
Affectionately,
Barb Clay
