Sheryl,
On Monday one of my babies had adrenal surgery. He had no hair loss, no difficulty urinating. He has had a couple month history of intermittent hematuria( blood in the urine) that would clear up with antibiotics. He just wasn't acting right...what is called in the vet world ADR ( ain't doin right) :-) Bloodwork was normal, x-rays normal, ultrasound showed a couple of cysts in the abdomen. One was on his left kidney and one in the middle of the abdomen. They were drained while he was sedated during his ultrasound and the fluid sent to the lab. Nothing abnormal noted. I might add that the ultrasonographer is a specialists in Internal Medicine so does ultrasounds all day long. I finially sent out a Tennessee panel because I couldn' t think of anything else it could be. One of the levels was elevated so we did surgery. His symptoms were all very subtle that most owners may not even notice. His right adrenal was enlarged....actually it was HUGE and wrapped all the way around the vena cava. I was absolutely lucky that his surgeon is also a board certified surgeon that does microvascular surgery ( such as kidney transplants and free tissue transfer). It was extremely difficult and he ended up having to temporarily clamp the vena cava while he dissected the tumor. He is recovering slow, but well. PLEASE don't delay and wait for more symptoms. Do surgery as soon as possible for the health of your fuzzy.
