Subject: [ferrethealth] Hi
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi I was recommended to come to this group to ask for some advice on
my ferret Amber.

[Empty link removed. The photo album here on the FHL can be used
for photos of ferret health problems when images may help which sounds
to be the case for this one.]

I don't know if that link will work but that's Amber on a good day.
She has had this for a year. Been tested for, mites, fungal, had
urine, blood, stool skin, nail, ultra violet light tests done, had a
scan, all show nothing. She will and only ever has eaten Kibble, and
refuses to touch anything else, if made to try she vomits it back. She
eats either vitalin or jwb kibble. After a year none of the rest of
the gang show any signs of this so it cannot be contagious, she shares
beds and play areas with them. We gave up seperating her after a
couple of months on the vets advice.
She has a funny smell to her, different to the other ferrets, not
awful just different. I cannot put my finger on what's its like. I
heard about yeast infection, can anybody give me any symptoms to look
for before I go back to the vets.
Ambers symptoms incase link doesnt work, are:-
Blood red swollen scaly feet, sometimes blister split and bleed,
Same with one ear,
Claws are now yellow or black and brittle, always breaking off.
Now hair is getting very thin, and her skins scaly but not very red.
Always itching.
Getting thin and always tired.
She is an indoor ferret, has shelter from day light, do not use
electric light in ferret room.
No longer use any chemical cleaning products in the house, just steam
or vinagar.
She is bedded on cotton sheets, which are boiled every day in just water.
She is on the following meds from the vet:- Baytril, Pred, Piriton,
Dermisol cream.
Any idea's please, I am desperate.
Thanking you, jenni
