Subject: [ferrethealth] Masses amount of blood in poop

I'd appreicate any insight into this -

Cobb (4.5yr old male with insulinoma and early signs of adrenal)went
into a insulinoma seizure Tuesday night. He had classic signs of
drooling, and staring off into space. I was able to bring him out of
it with honey and chicken gravy and his regulat dose of Pred. He
then had a very bloody poop that I assumed was caused but the shock
to his system. He was okay for a day or two but was not interested
in eating and his poops were dark and tarry. I took him to the vet
and he got fluids. His glucose was 57 and his temp. was 100. I
brought him home and he had some chicken gravy and walked around a
little. Within 20mins. he had another seizure and slipped into a
coma. He pooped out blood all over himself and then finally passed
away.

My question is what could have caused the bloody poop? I think it
was the shock of the seizure to his body but my vet says it was
probably a tumor that erupted. I'm curious because we're lost many
ferrets over the years and I've noticed the telltale signs of
impending death: The death rattle (a rattling sound when they
breath), the fur looking dank, the jaw clenching and the face
looking drawn in, and the "death poops" foul smelling, dark poops.
But I've never seen bloody poops like that.

Thank you.
Lisa
