Subject: [ferrethealth] Bear - downhill again (heart? kidneys? sigh.)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Sigh.
We're going to call the vet again, but I'm sure they're going to want to do bloodwork again only to tell us what we already know... Bear is dehydrated and his kidneys are at risk. The cardiologist raised Bear's lasix the other day when Bear's heart rate went back up. Ugh. And now Bear is incredibly weak again, too weak to stand or walk, and needs help at pottytime. We're feeding him Carnivore care every couple of hours.

Again, his meds: Carafate, Omeprazole, Digoxin (.1 ml a day), Enalapril (.5ml a day), Lasix ( now back to .1 ml a day.). The heart meds are separated from the tummy meds.

Lasix dehydrates him so badly, but slows his heart down.

How can we tell if his massive weakness is caused by heart problems or dehydration or kidney shutdown?

I just don't think the vets can actually do anything we're not already doing, and we're painfully broke now. (Believe me, I have already maxxed out all of our credit cards on him -- animal care is not something I take lightly.) Is there really a point in going back to the vet ? I just don't know if they can tell us anything other than "he's dying." Maybe they can... but they just raised his lasix two days ago, and I swear it made him crash.

Sigh.
