Kitten medications such as Hartz and even ones that aren't Hartz can
seriously harm ferrets. So yes, it definitely COULD have, but you have
to take him to a vet to get checked out for all possible causes.

You will want a vet who has a willingness to learn but preferably one
who tackles (sucessfully) all the major surgeries themselves instead
of just handling simple things. The more experienced they are the
better it will be for the ferret. In general I find that the ones who
do everything themselves instead of passing it along to an expert are
the ones to learn from and trust (not that non-surgeon ferret vets
aren't great, I just prefer ones that do it all).
