Please take him to a vet and get him checked out for the basics (a
basic blood panel/CBC)...that will rule out anything bad, and the vet
can check blood sugar levels. He could also get a parasite screening
(a stool sample would have to be provided) to see if he has something
going on internally. There are a myriad of problems that it could be,
ranging from just a psychological problem (often even if it's a great
environment ferrets can get stressed when they are adopted, which
leads to physical problems such as ulcers, etc.).
Ferrets can stress themselves in situations like that, leading to
ulcers and sometimes it's hard to get them out of that. That is a very
good reason why ferrets stop drinking and eating so much, and it can
be treated by the vet.
