A couple of suggestions that I have found can affect poop structure and/or cause excess mucuous in the poops:

You may be giving too much Ferretvite or Ferretone. We use both also, but have found that one of our ferrets gets bad poops from any amount of Ferretvite, another from Ferretone if given any more than about 0.3 ml a day. Try cutting back on both or alternating days with them.

Our 3 ferrets get a 'soup' mix about 3 times a week. When they do, they follow up with 'soup poops', which are firm, brown, smooth, and just right, even if they have had some problem stools or mucuous prior to eating the soup. I attribute it to adding some acidophilus and slippery elm bark powder to the soup (along with ground up kibble, Uncle Jim's duk soup mix, and a little ferretvite).

Just a couple of simple things that may be worth trying.
