I think you correct to dismiss Helicobacter but not because of no
obvious ulcer.

Helicobacter colonises nearly 100% of ferrets shortly after weaning...
ferrets infected with H.mustelae are usually asymptomtic.

H.mustelae can cause various problems from mild gastritis to major
ulcer problems.

Just because a ferret does not have ulcers does not mean it does
not have H.mustelae.
If Helicobacter was causing Fozzy's problem it would not cause
problems with his companion ferrets, they already have it but are
asymptomatic .
