Here is some disease control info on the worst of the E. coli if that happens to be the
particular rod shaped bacterium found in culture:

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/diseaseinfo/escherichiacoli_g.htm

Speaking only personally, the only E. coli that ever gave me a really hard time was when I
picked up a chimp strain from some chimps I worked with for many years in the 70s; that one
would over populate and then crash so I was sick for 3 months. Someone has recently
written up another case of that.

Lessons learned from it:

1. DO keep replacing helpful bacteria. Yogurt with live cultures and the acidophylis sources
mentioned should help. Plus, yogurt is easily digested often and a good nutrient source.

2. Stick with easily digested meats like turkey if possible while healing

3. Definitely avoid adding any more bacteria to the problem if at all possible and expect the
immune system to be working hard so the individual will be more vulnerable

4. Hydration is paramount
