Subject: [ferrethealth] vaginal discharge, Willow; skin flap, Butter
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Willow has a bit of vaginal discharge--looks watery yellow when wet and slightly yellow-
green when allowed to form a crust. She's spayed and about 3 years old (rescue girl). When
I got her last year, she was bald, and the vulva were huge. The vet said that because the
tumor had wrapped itself around the vena cava without blocking circulation, the best thing
to do would be to wait for her body to establish alternate circulation before trying for
surgery. (I asked about this at the time--some of you may remember). Lupron and
melatonin have worked very well--she has a full coat of hair, nice energy, and good
weight. The vulva shrank but never went completely down so I check often because
sometimes things (lint, rice, etc) get stuck there. I guess I'm assuming this recent
discharge is a secondary infection, to be treated with antibiotics. It sometimes helps if I
have a good idea what to suggest/ask for when I walk into the vet, so what else can this
be, how can we tell, and what antibiotics or other meds are commonly used for thing like
this? (There is a little black mark on the vulva, probably nothing, looks like pigment or
something. I think it's always been there but I couldn't swear to that.)

Butter has a small wart-thing nearly a half inch from his bottom. (No, it's not his penis.) It
actually looks like something I have in places, and which I've been told is a skin flap and
not a wart or mole. I've watched it for a month or so and it is growing slowly. He also has a
small scab right on the anus--I just noticed it yesterday and I don't know if it's related.
Ever so slight puffiness (not like a prolapse) around the anus, maybe related to the scab(?)

Suggestions? Thanks.
