Subject: [ferrethealth] Heartworm, Revolution and Costs

Okay, I might get cussed at for this but this is what my vet and I
do because I have many ferrets and also I am a "foster' mom. I buy
the "big dog" revolution size 6 pack. Each tube is a whooping 3.0 ml
of Revolution, that is 360 mg per tube! A LOT! You have to use it
all at once mind you. So, if you can't use that much meaning you
don't have that many ferrets then buy the next dog size down. I
think I only paid $57.30 for the 6 pack. Some of my ferrets are on
the kitten dose some are on the cat dose. I had it so one tube fit
my household. Then I had 5 ferrets die in the last 6 months. Now I
open my tube, dose my ferrets.I use an insulin syringe (of course
with no needle) with little tiny increments because I am anal. I
also wear gloves. Your vet will give you your dosages. The
concentration is different in some of the dog Revolution so DO NOT
try and do this without your vet!Before I start I make sure that I
call the shelter we don't have here in CA. so that she comes and
picks up the leftovers immediatly or I take it to her and the
leftovers are used within 20 minutes or so and none is wasted. I
find this to be a very economical and efficient way of keeping the
furchildren on Revolution.
I haven't really heard of others doing it and I don't really know
why but I am sure they are, aren't they??? It is herd medicine but
don't we use herd medicine all the time on this guys! Mary Jo
