Dear Kimba:

Vaccine-induced sarcomas are very uncommon in ferrets. Yes, a small
number have been reported, but the vast majority of cutaneous
sarcomas arise from the muscles of hair follicles or blood vessels
and provided that they have been completed removed, pose little to no
threat in the future. Most have a benign progression and have little
to worry about.

Even the vaccine induced sarcomas in ferrets are much less aggressive
than in cats. I would never recommend putting a ferret down with a
diagnosis of cutaneous sarcoma.

With kindest regards,
