Some in this situation have used deslorelin depot for chemical neutering when the heart
problem was very bad.
If you are in the U.S. that is yet an approved med, though. I do not know if any of the related
meds in the U.S.: Lupron depot, Trelstar depot, etc. have been tried for that sort of use.
Here is someone whose male was neutered earlier than planned due to a murmur:

Has a cardiologist who is used to ferret hearts evaluated the ferret to know better the safety
of the options?
Is there a more local anesthesia which could be used effectively and safely if the male goes
into rut? I think that is similar to what Chris was wondering, if this ferret is one who can
safely enough go into rut first? If not then chemical neutering could be what your vet will
need to look into.
