Subject: [ferrethealth] Best Distemper shot to give a ferret

I am going to start giving my ferrets distemper shots since I am going
to start fostering ferrets for our local animal control. I have never
given them shots before since they don't go outside and I live in an
area that has low incidence of distemper. I have an appointment with a
vet that uses Merial vaccines and does not pre-medicate before hand.
He feels it doesn't really help anyway and will treat the ferret
afterward if need be. Is this a good distemper vaccine with low
incident of reactions? Since all of my kids are rescues I don't know
if they have had reactions in the past or not. Thanks for any info.
