I've found that bactine spritzed on the back of the neck seems to be a
deterrent in my group. Luna, 9+ yr old, was being pestered by
youngsters, mostly because she squeals, and after spritzing bactine on
the back of her neck on a scratch, which healed very quickly, they
would sniff towards her then go the other way. I don't know the safety
issues with it, but I did give her a kiss right after spraying it on
her and other than my lips going numb and swelling just a tiny bit I
was o.k. I don't know if this will work for every situation but it did
work for ours.

In the past I've used apple cider vinegar drops on the back of the neck
and top of the back by the tail, and another product I've used is a
product made by Sun Rider - Sunbreeze (not Seabreeze). Very safe and
very smelly. So safe can be applied to the back of your throat to take
the soreness away. I've also used a drop of Ferret RX on each side of
the nose of the bully so he can't smell anything else. Results have
varied.
