I don't know if it is still considered to be the case but back
then it was thought that the use of Viokase could cause the
pancreas to adjust to the help and no longer produce good
enough enzyme levels on its own.
She did not have diarrhea, but was simply wasting away
despite excellent eating habits. At that point she had no
other symptoms of cardiomyopathy.
Her meds changed as her heart disease progressed. So at
various points she was on Enacard, Digoxin, Lasix, Co Q10,
etc. cardiomyopathy is a terminal disease, so it is managed
to give an optimal level of quantity of life while still
maintaining reasonable quality of life. As a result many
adjustments are made as needed.
