Could you keep us all updated on what works and what poses problems? I've been curious
about turmeric as a possible gentle anti-coagulant for ferrets who are prone to throwing
clots secondary to other diseases (having had two in the past with thromboses). I know it is
an anti-inflammatory but do not know if the info I received on it also working as an
anticoagulant is accurate. My two primary concerns have been that in some human studies it
lowers blood glucose, and that if it is an anticoagulant I wouldn't want it to be a strong
enough one to cause trouble since ferrets sometimes have a hard time with anticoagulants.
One problem in the U.S., of course, is that unlike the European medicinal herb industry ours
is almost totally unregulated so the strength and purity from the herbs used are so often in
question. That makes it very hard to figure safe but effective dosing levels.
