Subject: [ferrethealth] Insulinoma and prednisone adjustment problems
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I have two ferrets with insulinoma, one diagnosed just recently. They
are both over 5 years old and female. The first one had her meds
adjusted to 2.5 ml twice a day and is back to being a bouncy, happy
little ferret. The second one is not doing as well. It's the weekend,
I have a call in to the vet's, but this is Applachia, so I'm not
holding my breath.
She eats well, has good elimination, but will not eat kibble or drink
the water available to them. I have been feeding her duk soup made
from turkey, turkey broth and Zupreem with added water every few
hours. I went to the store today and when I let them out after my
return, I found she had peed all over the blankets she had been
sleeping in. It took two of us to get a bg - she can really put up a
fight when she wants to. It was 56. This is with her meds adjusted to
2.5 ml. twice a day. I don't know what to do at this point - I feel
like I'm losing her. Can anyone help or have suggestions?
